Rabbi Stacy Schlein joined our congregation in 2007 as Director of the Shabbaton. Then in 2013 she also became our Director of Education and most recently, she was named Associate Rabbi & Director of Learning. One of Rabbi Schlein’s greatest passions is innovating and strengthening Jewish education, which drives all of her primary responsibilities at Tifereth Israel. Rabbi Schlein manages and oversees the congregation’s learning programs for children, young adults and families.
She continues to be the Director of Shabbaton and also facilitates the work of our Temple Learning Council, Temple Family Connections and Teen Engagement Working Group. In addition, Rabbi Schlein leads a wide range of services and lifecycle events.
Locally, Rabbi Schlein currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland and is the Vice-Chair (and Chair elect) of the Education Directors Network. Nationally, Rabbi Schlein is on the leadership team of Onward Hebrew, which addresses the challenges of Hebrew learning in congregations, and serves on faculty at URJ Kutz Camp – a teen leadership program.
Prior to serving our congregation, Rabbi Schlein was Rabbi at Chavurat Tikvah in Rye, New York and Chaplain for the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Rabbi Schlein was ordained in 2001 and earned her Masters in Jewish Education in 2017, through a 2-year executive masters program, both at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion.
She and her husband Jeremy Sosin are the proud parents of Eliana, Aliza and Benjamin.
