Napoleon Maddox is a hip hop vocalist from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a proficient rapper, beatboxer, singer, and close personal friend of Rabbi Cohen and his wife Yael.
Napoleon presents workshops, clinics, and masterclasses about hip-hop and human beatboxing. His unique approach to teaching beatboxing includes methods that empower the participants to perform acoustically. He also shares in his sessions ways to work in ensembles with other beatboxers and musicians. Napoleon’s work has been commissioned by universities, festivals, and art institutions, in several cities in France, England, Serbia, Slovenia, and the U.S. In 2009, Napoleon was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Estonia for a series of workshops and concerts in six Estonian cities for Jazz Month. The work that he prepared with the workshop participants was presented in a major concert for the JazzKaar Festival.
Maddox mixes his sharp-edged flow with productions by Sorg, a young beatmaker from Besançon, France, considered as one of the most promising of his generation. On stage, Sorg & Napoleon deliver an energetic and committed hip-hop show while exploring creatively modern sounds! The graphist and video jockey, Ease, is also performing at their side.
