Rabbinic Search Committee – Rabbinic Search Update

Rabbinic Search Committee

The search for our next Senior Rabbi is well underway. Our committee of 25 congregants has already met four times, and we are on track to complete the search process by the end of this year. The focus of our initial meetings was to assess our current strengths and opportunities for growth. We also identified the qualities that are most important to us in a Senior Rabbi. On July 1, we posted our application for the Senior Rabbi position with the CCAR (Central Conference of American Rabbis), the organization formerly led by Rabbi Block, that assists congregations with rabbinic searches. I hope you will review this beautiful document, drafted by committee members and designed by our own Debbie Friedman, through this LINK.

We are so pleased that over 150 congregants attended the Annual Meeting on June 20, co-chaired by Eileen and Bob Blattner and Jane and Rob Platt. Members of the Search Committee led an exciting, interactive session in which congregants were asked to propose interview questions they would like to ask our Senior Rabbi candidates. We were thrilled to see such a high level of engagement and interest at the meeting. The questions we received were outstanding. In fact, we were so impressed with these questions that many of them will be used when we conduct video interviews of candidates in September and October. Some of our favorite questions are “What are your ideas and experience working to attract young families and retaining families in your congregation?” and “How will you bring us closer to our vision and what makes you the best candidate to do so?”

We are making significant progress in our rabbinic search, and our committee is fully engaged in this meaningful work. We also want to know what you think; we want your voice to be heard. If you have interview questions you would like to suggest or you just want to offer your ideas and thoughts, we have a designated email account at rabbisearch@ttti.org. We hope to hear from you!
