Join presenter Ximena Valdes-Sessler, who will inform us of the artistic trajectory and influences of two artists whose works are collected by major art museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Edmonia Lewis’ artwork is known for incorporating themes associated with Black people and Indigenous people of the Americas into Neoclassical-style sculpture.

Louise Nevelson, whose family immigrated to the US from Russia in 1905, was a leading sculptor of the twentieth century known for her monumental, wooden wall assemblages and outdoor sculptures.

The program is jointly sponsored by The Temple Chai Lifers, Temple Women’s Association, and the Temple Museum of Jewish Art, Religion, and Culture.
