Torah Study with Rabbi Roger C. Klein
January 12 @ 9:15 am - 11:45 am
An event every week that begins at 9:15am on Saturday, repeating until June 30, 2019
This year we will look at Torah through the writings of some of the greatest Jewish interpreters in history. We will spend much of our sessions together exploring the writings of Moses Maimonides. We will also look at other great sages, among them: the medievals Rashi, Nachmanides, and Judah Halevi; the moderns Martin Buber, Franz Rosenzweig, Abraham Joshua Heschel, and Emil Fackenheim…and the ways in which early Reform rabbis justified modernizing Judaism through bold interpretations of Torah. Among the topics that we will discuss are: the foundations of Judaism, the creation of the world, holiness, the meaning of idolatry, repentance and prayer, wisdom, and the messiah and the afterlife. We hope you will join us for another exciting year of study, adventure, and the joys of being together.
Bagels & coffee will be served ~ All are welcome! ~ Open to long-time participants and newcomers alike.
