Caring Congregation

Established in 1988, our Outreach and Inreach program is a model among Reform congregations. We welcome interfaith couples, Jews-by-Choice, and their families through nurturing programs that sensitize and educate. The Times and Seasons workshop helps couples explore the impact of their religious traditions on their lives and the lives of their children. Our Caring Congregation Program maintains the precious bonds between the Temple and its older, less mobile members, and our Shalom Program involves periodic, friendly phone calls to all congregants by members of our Board of Trustees. Over the years, Outreach programs have addressed a wide constituency. Programs that include “The December Dilemma,” “More than Four Questions – Learn the Why’s and How’s of Celebrating Passover,” “From Birth to Bris,” and “Death and Dying in the Jewish Tradition.” In addition, a six-week interfaith couples workshop, “Times and Seasons,” helps couples explore the impact of their religious traditions on their lives and the lives of their children. Outreach also sponsors educational programs in the Temple Learning Center.

Outreach programs are open to all members of The Temple-Tifereth Israel who are interested in learning more about Judaism to make educated choices in their lives.

The Temple’s Caring Congregation Initiative seeks to reach out in new ways to our senior members and deepen their relationship to the Temple through regular phone contacts by Temple members and through other activities such as “Afternoons at The Temple” and “The Temple To You” programs at area nursing homes. The Caring Congregation Initiative, through its Gemilut Chasadim Caring Corps, will also offer a meal to a family when someone is returning from the hospital or has just lost a loved one.
